Best Indoor Plants for Surviving the Winter

I need a little green in my life, especially in the winter time, so for me, a house full of plants is just the way to go. I bring in my Peace Lilies form the shaded front porch once the temp starts to drop in the fall and distribute them throughout the house for a little green cheerfulness during the cold and grey winter months.

Here's a few others that we find as a great addition to interior living until we can thaw out a bit in the spring and open up our living spaces to nature once again.

1. Succulents

Our favorites! But not all are created equally. Make sure you look up the individual care instructions for each kind you have. Cacti are, in my opinion, the easiest to care for.

2. Aloe

Great for adding a little green to any room. They don't require a lot of sunlight, so they work well in rooms where your windows don't offer consistent light throughout the day.

3. The Peace Lily

This one has been a constant in my home for years. They need moderate to low light and water about once per week when they feel dry.

4. Spider Plants

I used to love these when I was a kid. I was amazed by the fact that it grew new little plants that you could then pick off and plant another from. And there you have it, a free plant! Spider plants galore! And now that I'm thinking about them, it's going on the next shopping list.
